Hiking routes for every single level! If you're looking to literally take a deep breath of fresh air in the Pyrénées-Orientales, the Canigou massif is your absolute perfect hiking spot.
Officially labelled a Grand Site de France, this isn't just a mountain—it's a world-class, exceptional viewpoint. And there’s truly something for everyone: whether you stay low or head high, you’ll be treated to stunning 360° panoramas over the entire Roussillon plain and the Mediterranean Sea.
Plenty of well-marked trails are available for short, easy walks—often called the "Balcons du Canigou." These routes offer gentle gradients and superb views, making them perfect for families!
For the more seasoned hikers, the ascent right up to the peak (2,784 meters!) is the legendary challenge, often tackled over two days with a night in a mountain refuge.
